Meet the Principal
Felicia Coleman-Jones
I am honored to be the proud principal of Pontiac Middle School. I began my journey in education after working in corporate America. I wanted to make a positive impact in society and I knew that being an educator would allow me this opportunity. I started as a substitute and then teacher upon obtaining my Master of Arts degree in secondary education from Wayne State University and my teacher certification. I taught for over 17 years in Detroit and loved working with students and preparing them for college and career. While a classroom teacher, I obtained my administration degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and my administrative certification. I developed my capacity for leadership and was fortunate to become an Assistant Principal at an alternative school in Detroit.
My goal as Principal of Pontiac Middle School is to ensure that students have the essential tools and resources to be academically successful, develop socially and emotionally, and be prepared for high school. I love the saying, “it takes a village”. As the instructional leader, along with the committed staff of PMS in collaboration with families and the community, I look forward to each day working with all key stakeholders and building a strong community so that each student maximizes their potential and excels in excellence!
